Well there was no Sweet Sorrento Moon for me this time – I headed straight for the summer sunshine.
I had just arrived back from my little Amalfi-centric excursion to Salerno and I extended my stay in Naples, specifically to plan a few extra bike rides that I thought were worth doing.
Sorrento is famous as a tourist town and the gateway to the Amalfi coast. It’s beautiful and has much cleaner streets than neighbouring Naples.
Like the other places around Amalfi, you really need transport to make the most of the trip. This little excursion was actually preparation for what I view as the main event (stay tuned for that) and so for today it was all about checking out the e-mountain-bike hire facilities here at Sorrento.
This was exactly what I was keen to try. The e-bike I hired for the Amalfi coast trip was just so much fun for riding around on the roads, but I was really curious to see whether the mountain bike version would suit for my upcoming adventure. So I set out to tour Sorrento a bit, and this is what I found.
I wasn’t going to be stopped there though – with my battery still showing a full charge I set off to see how far up the Amalfi coast I could get. Here’s how I went.
About half way I stopped at a restaurant to get a proper Italian lunch to fuel my return journey. I bought the obligatory Limoncello Spritz – a native drink of the Amalfi coast.
Overall a really solid day exploring on the bike – pumped with how these photos turned out. Can’t wait to share the next episode which this little day was a planning day for. I’m hoping it will end up just as spectacular and if not I might just have to come back for that Sorrento Moon after all.
