Wakayama Castle is an imposing landmark in a central location in Wakayama. The city did feel comparatively deserted compared to neighbouring Osaka, so I suspected if I did the Castle tour I’d get a good experience without any crowds.
The approach to the castle takes you through a stunning Japanese garden, here’s the view.
The castle itself is kind of a smaller version of Osaka castle. It turns out it had been completely rebuilt after a fire destroyed it, which I believe is the case of a few castles in Japan except for Osaka castle. Im not much of a castle historian but I can appreciate a good photo spot!
The interior has some great Samurai armour and weapons.
This is the last leg for Japan, I’m here for a little bit longer to get some work done, but I’m moving on to the next destination. Stay tuned to see where!
