You’ve seen the Hōkan-ji Temple, specifically its Yasaka Pagoda, even if you don’t know what it’s called. Google ‘Kyoto’ and you’ll see a picture of a Pagoda with a cherry blossom tree. It’s a famous camera shot that thousands of tourists flock to each year to capture, particularly in Autumn.
Well, today that’s me, off to the Pagoda to try and get a photo of it without people in it. As you can see below, I failed miserably. But that’s been the theme this trip – Kyoto is pretty but way too popular.
Well that’s okay, we found Matcha beer at a local bar run by a Canadian that moved here about a decade ago. He was a good chat and the beer was wild. Was interesting to hear about how the city is changing since the pandemic and the tourist influx.
