Milan’s famous castle complex is very impressive and easy to visit with its central location just a few kilometers from the Duomo and central Milan.
Its impressively large and spacious inside. I made my way around the back to walk past the large park behind the castle, but I didn’t take any photos because unfortunately it was closed for cleanup after the recent stormy weather.
Nevertheless I made my way down to the Arco della Pace and scouted some great dining locations (all closed due to being earlier in the day).
Some great scenery around these central parts of Milan. I would have loved to stop for some early lunch and a spritz but everything is closed at this hour – it’s such a pity.
I can’t get behind the opening hours here – it’s such a westerner’s complaint because its easy to structure your day into a European rhythm, but on holidays it makes the cities a little bit harder to visit because you don’t have normal working hours to occupy yourself before being released into the city when it ‘wakes up’.
That’s not going to be a problem at my next major destination though – excited to see how that pans out.
