Dark Light

I have returned to Italy! Milan is a city I’ve visited before only for a very brief time as a day-trip from Venice. Now I’ll have a few cities from Northern Europe to compare it to, and it should be an interesting comparison.

Why back to Italy? Well when weighing up all travel options and a pathway to planning out the rest of my trip in one burst, Milan presented as one of the best ways to continue. Coming back here from Berlin means I beat all the bad weather about to hit Germany and the Netherlands over the next week, and instead I can spend the sunshine brushing up on my Italian and visiting some of the more outdoor-focused activities available in an Italian summer.

Here’s the scenery greeting me in Milan.

It’s peak season in Europe, and it looks like I’ve missed out on the opportunity to visit the Alps for lack of accommodation availability. I wanted to try touring through a few of the cities of Europe but I never imagined being locked into them because all the adventure spots are booked out. It seems that’s what happens – live and learn.

Anyway, Milan has much more of a modern vibe to it than most places in Italy, I was initially quite impressed with how clean it was and the architecture is of course fantastic.

All around very impressive scenery and streets. This is quite late at night too which is why things seem empty.

I have a great list of things to see in Milan as well as some of the normal attractions. More to come.
