Dark Light

It was time for a day walk and tour of Venice, with plenty to see we set off early to get some breakfast and see some the city from some of the vantage points I would have missed from my last time here.

The walk took us all the way through Castello and to Giardini (the Botanical Gardens of Venice), which were much more maintained than those others I’d seen so far throughout Rome and Naples.

Finally, we caught a Vaporetto water bus over to Lido Venezia for an afternoon of drinks and snacks on the beach. The Lido island was originally built to defend Venice from the sea, but today it serves a great place to get some sun and have a few Spritzes on the beach.

It was a great opportunity to catch up with my friends here. We had a fantastic dinner and ended up eating and talking well into the night before taking the Vaporetto home. We agreed broadly in our discussions that there were indeed many good ideas for unique visits to the wider Veneto region (and we discussed my ChatGPT generated ideas list).

Excited to see how some of these plans pan out in the coming days, stay tuned for that.
